Tea Party Nation president calls the Department of Homeland Security a 'liberal hate group'

The number two spot went to the DHS for taking part in "silly political posturing from the most corrupt regime in the history of this country." Referring to Secretary Janet Napolitano as "the DHS Clown in Chief," the list says that the "DHS will not enforce border security. It makes Americans go through a joke of a security system when they want to fly. It invades their privacy while not going after terrorists."

In this same article, they also call the ACLU a hate group.

Francois Houtart, priest and potential Nobel Peace Prize nominee, confesses to child rape.

A Belgian priest has confessed to a child sex-abuse accusation that came to light during a campaign to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work fighting globalization's impact on developing countries.

The confession was published in a Belgian newspaper Wednesday and confirmed by the organization the priest founded, deepening a sex-abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church in the country. After a spate of accusations this year, the church in September published the harrowing accounts of more than 100 victims of clerical sex abuse, some as young as 2 when they were assaulted.

In October, after supporters of 85-year-old Francois Houtart began working to nominate him for the Nobel, a woman contacted the nonprofit organization he founded and said the priest had abused her brother 40 years ago, according to its director, Bernard Duterme.

Houtart resigned the next month from the board of Cetri, which publishes reports critical of developed nations' actions in the Third World, Duterme said.

Houtart told the newspaper Le Soir that he twice touched "the intimate parts" of his cousin, an incident he called "inconsiderate and irresponsible."

Ombudsman determines G20 amendment was "illegal", "likely unconstitutional"

In their haste to bump up G20 security, Ontario authorities kept silent on a convoluted amendment to 71-year-old legislation that was “illegal” and “likely unconstitutional,” abrogating the Charter rights of thousands of people in the process, says Ontario Ombudsman AndrĂ© Marin.

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair, who requested the regulation, misrepresented it after officers were trained according to an incorrect interpretation of the law, Mr. Marin said. The Chief then refused to speak with or provide information to the Ombudsman investigating its execution.

A spokesman for the police argues Mr. Marin was overstepping his jurisdiction by making the request.

And according to Mr. Marin, the secretive amendment to the Public Works Protection Act put in place without debate in the weeks leading up to Toronto’s G20 summit shouldn’t have been enacted period. The 1939 law was originally meant to protect public works during the war. The regulation allowed police to detain, question and arrest without warrant people within the G20 security perimeter. Chief Blair told reporters the Friday before the summit that it gave police those privileges within five metres of the fence.

[...]

Mr. Marin said he received “zero” co-operation from the police during his investigation. A string of e-mails between the Ombudsman’s office and the Toronto police indicate Chief Blair repeatedly declined requests for information and to interview his officers and himself regarding the regulation.

“Our position was and is that we are co-operating fully with bodies that have jurisdiction over the police service,” said police spokesman Mark Pugash, noting that in addition to Ontario’s Office of the Independent Review Director and the province’s Special Investigations Unit, the Police Services Board has commissioned its own independent review of police conduct during the G20.

Convicted rapist found dead in the woods.

A dangerous offender who failed to return after an outing on day parole during the summer has been found dead. The man's body was found in the woods at the base of Chilliwack Mountain on November 25.

Dale Edward Koenders' ID was found at the scene, but it took an autopsy to confirm the body was his.

He'd been serving time at the Chilliwack Correction Centre for a 1986 attack on Vancouver Island. Armed with a knife, he repeatedly sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman in Chemainus. Koenders received a dangerous offender designation for that attack.

New video surfaces relating to Toronto G20 police brutality

The Toronto Star has come into possession of a new piece of videotape shot by a bystander that afternoon. It is 12 minutes and 20 seconds long — 23 seconds of which capture a vicious cop pile-on, officers pounding on Nobody, a stage designer who changed his name two years ago from Adam Trombetta for the pun value.

This sequence is far more definitive and revealing of what happened in that incident than the disputed — by Blair, anyway —YouTube video scrutinized earlier by the Special Investigations Unit. The independent agency last week concluded it was unable to identify the officers involved and could therefore not lay charges.

But here is at least one cop who should be recognizable to anyone studying the images.

Father buried his children in two different states, mutilated their corpses

A father whose missing children are believed to be dead told investigators he buried one of his young children in Mississippi in March, then buried the other in Alabama in June, police said Monday.

John DeBlase, 27, of Mobile, was being held on $206,000 bond. He is charged with child abuse and corpse abuse. The children's stepmother, Heather Leavell-Keaton, is jailed in Louisville, Ky. on child abuse charges. She will soon be extradited back to Alabama. The couple had been together since 2008 but they were not legally married.

Mobile police say Deblase has admitted burying his two children - 5-year-old Natalie and 3-year-old Chase - but claims Leavell-Keaton killed them. She is pointing the finger at him.

Wrestler claims he was penetrated sexually by teammate.

The accused wrestler says it was a common hold, but his teammate says it was sexual assault. The District Attorney agrees with the alleged victim, and the case is going to court this week.

A wrestling video posted on YouTube shows a version of the move, called a Butt Drag. In the move a wrestler grabs his opponent between the buttocks to turn him. But the father of the alleged sexual assault victim says his son suffered much more than a grab.

"This kid basically targeted my son, pinned him to the ground and assaulted him."

Ross Rice claims his 15-year-old son wasn't just grabbed, or dragged, but painfully penetrated and injured by his opponents fingers.

"They tagged it as a butt drag, and I don't think that move is a bad move, but what he did was above and beyond that." Rice said.

The alleged assailant, a 17-year-old, goes on trial on charges of sexual battery this week, and faces possible expulsion from school. His attorney, Charles Magill says the accusations and charges are absurd.

"They are sweating and grappling with one another. There is a certain amount of give and take when you are involved in that type of an intimate sport." He said, and added; "We defend it by saying the conduct he's alleged to have done is overblown and completely out of context of what happened."

No one at Buchanan High or the Clovis Unified School District will comment on the matter. Long time Fresno State University wrestling coach Dennis Deliddo says the Butt Drag is a legitimate wrestling move.

"So you grab the buttocks, one side or the other and try to steer your opponent one way or another it's just a wrestling move." But, Deliddo adds, "It is not supposed to involve penetration. That's not taught. That move isn't taught, to stick your finger there."

New Mexico court rules that a same-sex partner can't seek custody of child because they weren't married.

A same-sex partner of an adoptive mother can't seek child custody but may request visitation, the New Mexico Court of Appeals has ruled in a precedent-setting case.

State laws provide no legal right for a Santa Fe-area woman to bring a lawsuit asking for custody of a child who was adopted by her partner during their 15-year relationship, the court concluded in a 2-1 ruling issued Wednesday.

Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, said Thursday the ruling was a "step backward" on child custody because New Mexico previously had been a leader in "protecting children's relationships with functional parents, with people who are true parents in every sense of the word but don't have a biological or adoptive relationship with the child."

G20 police will not face criminal charges because they took their badges and name tags off beforehand.

In the case of Brendan Latimer, a 19-year-old chef from Ajax, Ont., whose nose was broken when he was arrested at Queen's Park, SIU director Ian Scott wrote that "there are reasonable grounds to believe an officer used excessive force leading to injuries to the complainant," but noted the officer responsible had not been identified.

Mr. Latimer, who was brought to the ground by fleeing protesters as he stooped over to help up a woman who had been knocked down, said the officers who allegedly kicked and struck him with batons weren't wearing their nametags.

"I said 'I'm not resisting arrest,' and I was told to shut up," he said. "They just started wailing on my ribs."

He said he sat in a paddy wagon for three or four hours with a broken nose.

In Mr. Nobody's case, the SIU reviewed a YouTube video titled "Toronto G20, Peaceful Protestor Tackled and Roughed Up," which showed him being arrested at Queen's Park by six officers. Police held him face down on the ground while one officer moved a closed fist towards him in a "striking motion," the SIU wrote.

"In my view, these closed fist strikes appear to be an excessive use of force," Mr. Scott concluded.

The SIU, however, found no evidence to support Mr. Nobody's allegation that a pair of plainclothes officers later kicked him in the head.

Dorian Barton, meanwhile, said he went to College Street and University Avenue with a friend to see what was happening. As he turned to snap a photo of police on horseback, the 29-year-old was knocked over by a riot shield-toting officer and broke a bone in his upper right arm near the shoulder, he said.

"When I asked for medical attention, they laughed at me," Mr. Barton said.

He said he was held for several hours in the Eastern Avenue detention centre before being taken to hospital. Charges of obstructing a police officer and unlawful assembly were later dropped.

Case against cop who drugged and raped a family member may be thrown out because of a stupid fucking juror.

The sexual battery conviction of a Davie police officer accused of drugging and raping a family member may be thrown out.

Defense attorney John Fry says the jury apparently failed to follow the court's instructions to only consider evidence presented at trial by downloading information about "rape trauma syndrome" from the Internet and bringing it to the jury room during deliberations.

Fry said that after the verdict was read Thursday, a courtroom clerk checked the jury room and found printouts about rape trauma syndrome and sexual assault downloaded from the website Wikipedia. The printouts were not part of the evidence presented at trial, Fry noted.

The clerk immediately informed the judge, who then informed the defense attorney and prosecutors, Fry said.

Broward Circuit Judge Stanton Kaplan, who presided over the three-week trial, could not be reached immediately for comment.

Ron Ishoy, a spokesman for the Broward State Attorney's Office, said he could not confirm whether any Internet printouts were discovered in the jury room by the clerk.

But Fry has requested an emergency hearing for Tuesday to get Officer Stephen Olenchak bonded out of jail, where he has been held in isolation since the verdict was returned, and Ishoy said, "We expect that there will be further discussion at the hearing on Tuesday regarding issues that have been raised since the guilty verdict was rendered." Olenchak, 36, was arrested in March 2009 by Davie police on charges he drugged and raped a family member, then 19, while his wife and 4-year-old son slept next to them in the same bed.

Gross fucking study says that making gross child porn legal for gross fucking people might make them rape less children.

Researchers from University of Hawaii have suggested that legalizing child pornography could aid in reducing the rates of child sex abuse.

Researcher Milton Diamond and colleagues noted that results from the Czech Republic showed, as seen everywhere else studied (Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sweden, USA), that rape and other sex crimes have not increased following the legalization and wide availability of pornography.

And most significantly, the incidence of child sex abuse has fallen considerably since 1989, when child pornography became readily accessible - a phenomenon also seen in Denmark and Japan.

United States tries to shut down Wikileaks again, fails.

Late Friday night NZ time, whistle-blowing website WikiLeaks went offline - and early Saturday it is still without a working web address [UPDATE: the site is now back online at the new address WikiLeaks.ch].

EveryDNS, the US company that provides WikiLeaks' domain name (or URL or internet address - WikiLeaks.org), said it could no longer provide service.

Multiple denial of service (DoS) attacks on WikiLeaks were threatening the stability EveryDNS' infrastructure, the company said in a statement.

That will not stop the flow of leaked diplomatic cables from the site. Only a few hundred of the 250,000 US cables had been placed publicly on WikiLeaks.org. That handful can still be accessed via Google cache (or the IP address mentioned in the caption above).

TSA forces four-year-old disabled child to remove leg braces, then makes the child walk through a metal detector without parent's help.

It was Ryan's first trip to Disney in March 2009, according the paper's columnist Daniel Rubin. All was going well for the Thomases -- they had gotten to the airport with hours to spare before their flight, but as it turns out, they would need that extra time.

Ryan's father was breaking down his son's stroller to put it on the conveyor belt as his wife, Leona, walked Ryan through the metal detector. As expected the alarm went off and Leona tried to explain the situation, the paper said.

The screener replied that the boy would have to take the braces off and walk through the detector again. When Leona Thomas attempted to walk with Ryan she was told he would have to do it alone.

Michael Stephen Owen-Darcy, 31, who was a boarder at Mr Easton's home, is on trial for his murder.

The jury was this afternoon shown graphic photographs of Mr Easton's mutilated body. He was clutching a knife against his neck and a children’s book, Pussy Cat Pussy Cat, was on his chest.

[...]

The jury was told Mr Easton's testicles were found in the kitchen sink and his penis was found wrapped in cling film and placed inside a salt container.
