A Washington man found the pain in his wrists from untreated carpal tunnel syndrome so bad, he grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to cut off his own hands.
When his girlfriend discovered him holding his hands over the sink at his home near Seattle, the 25-year-old grabbed a screwdriver and went after his mother, prosecutors said.
Haunhorst's mother told police she heard her son complaining about pain in his wrists. 'She heard him say that he was going to chop his arms off,' according to court documents.
